Always fun when childhood mementos resurface! For that brief moment in time, can enjoy both the nostalgic memories with their associated physical artifacts from years long past :3
I remember finding one of my old yo-yos stashed away. It wasn’t my first ever, but my first ball bearing yo-yo. I cleaned it up and replaced the string and I was amazed I was still able to pull off string tricks with it :3 It lacks the modern flairs like response pads and a wider bearing, but it works all the same~
Thanks for the yo-yo nostalgia! Getting flashbacks of when school would have fundraisers and bring in the salespeople who would show off their yo-yo skills with their prizes you could “earn”. Sorry about the taxes- I hope yours were easier than mine. I moved to a new state last year so taxes were bad for me x.x
We totally had those too! I was there for the yo-yo craze in the 90s when they’d have those assemblies in schools where they’d show off a bunch of tricks to get all the kids to beg their parents to buy them some while conveniently selling them after school. Looking back, they sound so morally dubious…
Eh.. taxes come every year, so it’s not like it is an unexpected surprise. They’re no less unpleasant, but with the right preparation and planning, they can go better. At least they’re done!
The yo-yo ‘craze’ didn’t start in the 90’s, not by a long shot 😛
We bought them for the kids when they were old enough…in the 90’s…and I still remembered a lot of the tricks, it was fun teaching them.
Don’t mention taxes, we paid ours yesterday 🙁 more than we’d hoped but a lot less than we’d expected. We only owed $5000 extra this year.
Clearly yo-yos existed before the 90s, but before those yo-yo promoters came to our school, yo-yos were basically regarded as lame toys of our parents. (If it didn’t take batteries or was based off of a TV show, it was lame.) Howber, after seeing those cool teenagers perform tricks on stage, suddenly every kid has to have one. I’d call that a craze.

The nice thing about yo-yos is that anyone can learn the tricks, or learn to hit themselves in the head, but I guess that’s sort of a trick too 🙂

I’m glad you can tell what it is x3 I wasn’t too happy with how it came out but opted to not spend all night on it.

If she achieved that via natural momentum, she’s clearly a pro. o.o
